The history of Oro en Rama: an ancient legacy

The Rama Calero family, uninterruptedly since the 18th century, has dedicated its activity to the production of olive oil. From the founding of the mill in the 1860s to the present day, generation after generation, the olive-growing tradition has been maintained with the same enthusiasm that we apply to our oil today.

A FAMILY After many generations dedicated uninterruptedly to the cultivation of cereal and olive trees, dating back to the 18th century, in the estivations of the Sierra de Cazorla, Segura y las Villas Natural Park, in Chiclana de Segura (Jaén), the Rama Calero family continues the saga of his ancestors, caring for and pampering the olive trees as from day one. In 1962 Leopoldo Rama began to commercialize the oil from the family oil mill, and after his premature death, it is now his son Juan Antonio and his grandson Leopoldo who have decided to resume the project, producing again with the greatest enthusiasm our VIRGIN OLIVE OIL EXTRA «GOLD ON BRANCH»

Chiclana de Segura The EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL that we produce, of the highest quality, belongs to the Chiclana de Segura region, belonging to the Sierra de Segura Designation of Origin.
 This special enclave, in the foothills of the Cazorla, Segura and Las Villas National Park, gives our product a series of unique characteristics and attributes.
 Our olive groves are of the Picual variety and are several hundred years old. Most of them are grown in High Mountains, at an altitude between 600 and 900 meters above sea level, giving our product a fruity aroma, with a bitter, spicy touch and low acidity.

Oro en Rama is recognized with the Sierra de Segura Protected Designation of Origin quality seal , the highest degree of distinction at European level. Our oil is recognized both for the good work of the traditional mountain olive farmers who have worked for millennia in this massif in the northeast of Andalusia, in the province of Jaén, cradle of the olive tradition in Spain and the world.

A fortnight of small towns submerged in a sea of ​​olive trees comprise this Protected Designation of Origin : Chiclana de Segura, Arroyo del Ojanco, Beas de Segura, Segura de la Sierra, Benatae, Génave, Hornos de Segura, La Puerta de Segura, Orcera, Puente de Génave, Santiago-Pontones, Siles, Torres de Albanchez and Villarrodrigo.

Mountain olive grove

With an average altitude of 900 meters high, the orography of this mountain area that includes the Segura, Cazorla and Las Villas Natural Park , and gives these oils a large part of the genuine characteristics of the mountain olive groves where Oro en Rama, from the Rama family estates following traditional cultivation techniques to now offer a limited edition of our exquisite oil.
